It's been a while since there's been a report of someone driving the wrong way on an interstate or major thoroughfare. Charges are pending this morning for a driver who steered his van westbound on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 early this morning for 10 miles.
The driver of the van was first spotted at Nagle Avenue on the Northwest side and was eventually stopped at Busse Road by a state maintenance truck around 4;05. the truck managed to get the van to pull over using its flashing yellow lights, and State Troopers were on the scene moments after the van stopped.
Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Nizar Hasan said they were fortunate no collisions occurred during the drive and the truck's attempt to stop the van.
It's believed the driver of the van was drunk. The driver was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests.
