Pencil This In: Kartemquin's "Rock The Doc" At The Whistler, American Cancer Society Wine Tasting At The Poison Cup

2012_4_12_PTI.jpg Kartemquin Films has been promoting a series of "Rock the Doc" events benefitting the non-profit filmmakers behind The Interrupters, Typeface, Hoop Dreams and other great documentaries. The latest event is a "tunes and trivia" night beginning 7:30 p.m. tonight at The Whistler (2421 N. Milwaukee Ave.). Test your knowledge against Chicago's finest brains, and then throw down some dance moves to DJ Zak Piper spinning vinyl. The winning team will receive prizes and bragging rights. All proceeds from the event, and a portion of the bar ring, will go toward supporting Kartemquin.

The Poison Cup wine and art store (1128 W. Armitage) has a wine tasting from 6-8 p.m. tonight which will benefit the American Cancer Society. Ten percent of tonight's sales during the tasting will go toward the ACS in their battle to find a cure for cancer.

If you have an event for inclusion in "Pencil This In," please contact Tankboy (for A&E-related listings), Anthony (for tastings, dinners and food and drink-related events) or tips[at]chicagoist[dot]com.
