Runt Pulse will be held in a nontraditional space to promote a casually interactive atmosphere, inviting viewers to observe from a more intimate perspective. Get a chance to see new choreography by Ally Subak and Emily Lukasewski as well as a new collaboration between Laboratory Dancers and data composer, Sam Hertz.
Subak’s new work considers the familial bonds and relationships that we develop and the imprints people make up on us. She examines the permanence and irreversibility of both physical and emotional imprints through a dance focused around an original art installation by Subak and Bjorn Kavanaugh.
Lukasewski’s set of sister pieces centers around the barriers created in human relationships. She explores the shells social apathy creates and juxtaposes that with the effects of self-consciousness and social anxiety.
The final piece is a technologically motivated movement piece created by Sam Hertz with choreographic direction by Haley Bergschneider. It revolves around the discrete nature of the digital and the poetic essence of the analog. The mediums of data recording and dance investigate the digital/analog relationship humans have with the everyday.
See Runt Pulse at the Fulton Street Collective, located at 2000 W. Fulton St. Performances are April 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and April 22 at 6 p.m. A Q&A session will be held with the company following the Friday, April 20 performance.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted. The event has been funded through a charitable campaign, sponsored by Fractured Atlas. To reserve a seat, email info@laboratorydancers.com.
