Afternoon Box Score: Both Cubs And Sox Lose

By Samantha Abernethy in News on Apr 19, 2012 9:30PM

Marlins 5, Cubs 3

The Cubs lost their fifth straight game today. Since their April 13 win over the Cardinals, they've been outscored, 34-10. Miami took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Cubs came back in the second inning, though, putting up three points when Darwin Barney hit a triple with the bases loaded. That was the Cubs' sole bright spot of the game, though. In the third, the Marlins answered with three points of their own, and the Cubs never closed the gap.

Orioles 5, White Sox 3

The White Sox fell to the Orioles for the third time during their four-game series this afternoon. They failed to replicate the beating they gave the Orioles yesterday, and Gavin Floyd became the first Sox starter to allow more than four earned runs. Of course the real highlight of the game is when a little kid ran out onto the field in the seventh inning.
