Local Nonprofits Benefit From "Timtacular" Birthday

Tim Sarrantonio is the kind of guy who gives willingly. His resume lists a series of non-profit jobs and charitable endeavors, including sitting on the board of directors for Reading with Pictures, a nonprofit organization which advocates the use of comics in the classroom as a literary device and learning tool. I first got to know Tim while he was working as the outreach coordinator for The Arts of Life, the local organization that uses art as a therapeutic tool for adults with special needs. (Full Disclosure: Chicagoist is an annual sponsor of The Arts of Life Chili Cookoff.)
Tim turned 30 last Friday and decided to ring in the occasion with a huge blowout fundraiser Sunday, April 29, at Goose Island Wrigleyville brewpub he’s dubbed “The Timtacular.” In addition to Reading with Pictures and The Arts of Life, proceeds from this event will also benefit theater troupe The Neo-Futurists and ARISE Chicago, which builds partnerships between faith communities and workers to fight workplace injustice through education and organizing and advocating for public policy changes.
Tim has planned this fundraiser for months. The $60 admission gets guests a brewpub tour, food, drink and live entertainment. Even more impressive is the list of live auction and grab bag raffle items he’s put together (see below).
I’ve had the privilege of hanging with Tim on a couple of occasions, and he knows how to have a good time. Even if you don’t know him, this would be a great opportunity to help out four nonprofits that make Chicago a better place.
”The Timtacular,” 4-8 p.m. April 29 at Goose Island Wrigleyville brewpub. Tickets are available here.
