Samarov Kickstarts Hack Sequel

It's an understatement to say that we've huge fans of the writing and artwork of Dmitry Samarov here at Chicagoist. [ We've gifted copies of his book Hack: Stories from a Chicago Cab (Chicago Visions and Revisions) to friends. It's that good.]
The final story in Hack was written in 2010, however. And Samarov has only been prolific since and is set to put together the sequel to Hack. The thing is, he still drives a cab to pay the bills, somewhere between 60-80 hours a week.
So Samarov is turning to Kickstarter to drum up the funds so he can hire an agent and take some time off from behind the wheel to edit a manuscript. To sweeten the campaign, Samarov is offering original artwork from the new book to pledges of $75. Pledges of $100 will receive an piece of artwork drawn or painted specifically for the pledger by Samarov, and a copy of the new book when it's published.
The campaign just kicked off and already Samarov is nearly a quarter of the way towards his $6,000 goal. The campaign ends June 1 but we wouldn't be surprised if he reaches his goal well before then. In the meantime, check out the video made for the campaign, with music by Darts & Arrows.
