Edible Nerdiness: Atari Games Made Of Cans

By Anthony Todd in Food on May 4, 2012 7:00PM

The staff at this Whole Foods Market are our kinda people. And by our kinda people, we mean total geeks. For the second year in a row, they've created an amazing, video-game themed can sculpture to celebrate Whole Foods' sponsorship of CANstruction. Last year, they made an original Mario out of cans. This year, it's Atari time.

Every year, the design-with-food competition CANstruction brings together sponsors and artists for a big can festival. Last year, as part of their sponsorship, Whole Foods put up can sculptures in all of their chicago-area stores, designed by the staff of each store. The South Loop Whole Foods won last year, and we think they should win this year - you can see each store's entry and vote for the winner on Facebook. CANstruction benefits the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

The South Loop Whole Foods went with an Atari theme. We're total nerds and can still only recognize four of the games out of five. Anyone who can identify all five in the comments gets a tip of our red plumber's cap.
