Chandeliers's new track "New Times", from the experimental Chicago group's forthcoming Captcha Records-released album Founding Fathers, blends oscillating electronic flourishes, huge hip-hop beats, and flashy synth chords to create appeasing electronica. Founding Fathers is record number four for Chandeliers, whose members also do time in Chicago art-rock groups like Michael Columbia, Icy Demons, and Killer Whales.

Between "New Times", and other Fathers songs like "le Corsage", which marries Funkadelic snap with downtempo chill (and features a stellar vocal turn from singer Emma Yohanan), this record mostly sounds like a grab for Ratatat's electronic pop ring, at least for a bunch of dudes who re-cut 33 of their outtakes into a single 48-minute album of cohesive music. Download "New Times" below.

Chandeliers celebrate Founding Fathers's release with a show on Monday June 25 at the Empty Bottle. CAVE offshoot Bitchin Bajas, who recently released their excellent DVD/album Vibraquatic last month, open, as do Golden Birthday, who'll be releasing a new record of their own as well that night.
