Version Fest 12 has longtime residents of Bridgeport talking about and taking pride in the neighborhood like few other events in recent memory. the highlight of this weekend's festival is a parade that forms at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, from the Zhou B Center.
The parade will work its way up Morgan Street— the center of Bridgeport's growing art community— beginning at 2 p.m. and feature human-powered floats, mobile sculptures, origami architecture, marching bands, hot dogs, and dance troupe,. before winding over to Bosley Playground (3044 S. Bonfield St.), where the parade will morph into a block party starting at 3 p.m. as part of what has been declared "Bridgeport Day." Version's organizers have partnered with Lion VS Gorilla (LVG), a curatorial collaboration that uses experiential art to build community. The block party will feature pop-up operas, art, three-legged races, a kimchi cook-off, storytelling focusing on Bridgeport history and a petting zoo.
