Let's start with the White Sox, shall we? They should be expected to beat Kansas City and that's exactly what they did. Gavin Floyd pitched 7-2/3 scoreless innings last night and has allowed only four earned runs in his last 28-2/3 innings. Adam Dunn hit his 11th home run of the season for the White Sox, tying his home run total for all of last season. The "Swamp Donkey," as WSCR's Dan McNeil calls Dunn, is back to form. Dunn also didn't strike out for the first time this season. Alex Rios, who's also performing better than last season, stroked a two-run triple to give Floyd some breathing room.
The Cubs showed a lot of fight last night. David DeJesus jacked a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh inning and sparked a ninth-inning rally with an RBI triple that put the Cubs ahead. But the Brewers tied the game in their half of the ninth with a Corey Hart two-run shot, and eventually won the game with a walk-off RBI single by Hart. Matt Garza was solid in his return to the mound after an illness. Garza allowed one run over five innings of work.
