Tickets for Taste of the Nation, one of the best food events of the entire year, are available now. The event will feature almost 100 chefs, mixologists galore, a star-studded dessert bar, entertainment and more, and all of the proceeds go to benefit Share Our Strength and their work to eliminate child hunger. What better way could you spend a Wednesday in August?
The event takes place on Wednesday, August 8, in the Grand Ballroom on Navy Pier. This event will absolutely sell out, so it's best to buy tickets now. General admission tickets are $95, and get you into the event from 7-10 p.m. Based on our experience at many of these types of events, it's worth your money to buy an "Advocate" ticket and get an extra hour of VIP admission. Then you can enjoy the food and drink, mingle with the chefs and establish yourself before the crowds arrive. If you want to go really nuts, snag a $500 "Benefactor" ticket. That gets you valet parking and access to the exclusive Lakeside Luxe Lounge (say that three times fast). Plus, you have the satisfaction of supporting a worthy cause.
The list of chefs and restaurants that participate in Taste of the Nation is too long to reproduce here. Stars include Avec, Hot Chocolate, MK, Old Town Social, Tru, L20, Girl and the Goat and Spiaggia. The list of mixologists includes Lynn House (blackbird), Charles Joly (Drawing Room), Adam Seger, Sonja Kassebaum, Revae Schneider, and just about every other name you've ever heard of associated with cocktails in Chicago. The Dessert Lounge is the part we're really looking forward to. Scarf down desserts from Black Dog Gelato, Hot Chocolate, Moto, Nightwood, Sepia, Flirty Cupcakes, Hoosier Mama Pie Company and Angel Food Bakery.
