Mayor Richard J. Daley was born on this date in 1902. We could extend to him some of the gifts we offered when we celebrated his son's birthday just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately we still couldn't find Bill Cameron's "Daley's Greatest Hits" audio clips for Richard J., which were released on vinyl in 1979. It may be timely, though, to look back at these clips from the Democratic National Convention in 1968.

Rumor has it, in this clip Daley is saying, "Fuck you, you Jew son of a bitch, you lousy mother-fucker, go home."

Newsreel footage of Daley speaking before the 1968 convention.

And just to keep things light, here is Daley on What's My Line in 1956.

If you're feeling ambitious, though, here's a 55-minute newsreel film on the events in the summer of 1968 in Chicago.
