The FBI tracked a southwest suburban Chicago newlywed suspected of killing his bride to the Texas-Mexico border. More than 30 law enforcement agencies have joined the manhunt since police found Estrella Carrera stabbed to death two days after she eloped in City Hall.
Thirty-year-old Arnoldo Jimenez of Burbank, Ill. disappeared shortly after his rushed wedding last Friday. His new wife was found dead in her bathtub, still wearing a sequin cocktail dress she’d worn on her wedding night. The two were tight-lipped on news of their marriage, inviting a few friends out afterwards without saying what they were celebrating. They were last seen at 4 a.m. Saturday in a North Side nightclub.
Carrera had an on-again, off-again relationship with the man suspected of stabbing her multiple times, according to her cousin. She is the mother of two children, including a 2-year-old boy by Jimenez. Friends and relatives told the media Jimenez had a history of domestic violence.
NBC Chicago, who have been all over this story, may have gotten a bit carried away in pushing the hashtag #BathTubBride, but the salacious details of the case do command attention from the media, present company included.
