Morning Box Score: Cubs Losing Streak Reaches 10, White Sox Outshine Indians

What started out as a not-awful season has turned into disaster for the Cubs. After losing to the Pirates Friday night they've now lost 10 in a row, their longest losing streak since 1997, when they dropped their first 14 games. Ryan Dempster (0-3) hasn't recorded a win since last August. Dempster is throwing well—he only allowed one run on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings—but isn't getting any run support. The Cubs had men in scoring positions in the fifth and sixth innings but couldn't close the deal. Alfonso Soriano was in scoring position in the sixth and was called out due to interference on a ground ball hit by Darwin Barney. Watching the Cubs so far this season has been like watching a "Keystone Kops" short that just doesn't seem to end.
Adam Dunn and the White Sox once again showed they're still viable for contention this season following their dominating win over the division rival Cleveland Indians. Dunn recorded his 15th home run of the season and A.J. Pierzynski and Dayan Viciedo each homered to help push the Sox past the Indians. Jose Quintana (1-0) had plenty of support on his first big league start, allowing only four hits and two runs in six innings pitched. Alejandro De Aza also helped the scoring effort getting two RBIs along with Pierzynski, Dunn and Viciedo. The Sox have now won six of their last seven and are only 2 1/2 games back of the division-leading Indians.
