It hasn't felt like a 95 degree day here at Chicagoist headquarters today, mainly because of the gusty winds and that we're closer to Lake Michigan than the official temperature at O'Hare Airport. Regardless, Skilling Central calls the high temp a record for Memorial Day in Chicago.

The mercury at O'Hare hit that record mark at 12:51 p.m. Tom Skilling noted in his late-morning forecast on WGN-TV the high here is hotter than Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego. The previous record high for Memorial Day was 93 degrees, set in 1942 and 1953. The storms set to roll in later today will lead to a dropoff in temperatures of close to 20 degrees tomorrow. We'll see you then.
