Wine Riot Chicago Makes Loving Wine Simple

By Chuck Sudo in Food on May 30, 2012 3:50PM

2012_5_30_wine_riot.jpg Morgan First and Tyler Balliet created their company Second Glass with a goal of helping people discover a love of wine through online and mobile-based tools and in-person events such as this weekend's Wine Riot at Union Station's Great Hall.

Wine Riot events are grand tastings, only with the stuffiness associated with wine tastings replaced by a sometimes forced hip and "cool" factor. (Six of one, a half-dozen of the other.) But the goal is the same: to celebrate one's oenophilia and maybe find some new favorite wine styles and vineyards. Over 250 wines from 88 wineries will be available for tasting, with wine experts on hand to break down varietals for you. If you find wines you like, you can save them to Second Glass' mobile app and find out where to buy them later.

Wine Riot Chicago is at Union Station's Great Hall June 1 from 7-11 p.m., and June 2 from 1-5 p.m. and 7-11 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online here.
