We tend to call an evening of food, cigars, cocktails, beer & wine "par for the course" around here. Add the talents of some heavy hitting local chefs and cocktail shakers donating their time and resources for charity and you have "CigarBQue." This event, taking place at Beyond Design (4515 N. Ravenswood Ave.) June 21 from 6-9 p.m., will benefit the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to fighting poverty in the Dominican Republic through education, disease prevention and empowerment. Through the foundation's efforts, families in the island nation have access to vocational programs, clean drinking water and quality education.

The event is hosted by Giuseppe Tentori (Boka, GT Fish & Oyster), Rick Gresh (David Burke's Primehouse) and Cleetus Friedman (City Provisions). Other chefs participating include Jimmy Bannos, Sr. (Heaven on Seven, The Purple Pig), Mike and Pat Sheerin (The Trenchermen), Todd Stein of the upcoming Piccolo Sogno Due and Honky Tonk BBQ's Willie Wagner. Mixologists include Boka Restaurant Group mixologist Benjamin Schiller, Olmeca Altos tequila brand ambassador Daniel de Oliveira, Wirtz Beverage Illinois' Eric Hay and Sable Kitchen and Bar's Fred Sarkis.

Tickets to this event ($185) are still available and may be purchased here.
