Now there's another reason to keep tabs on State Legislature's 10th District besides the Democratic maneuverings against indicted incumbent Rep. Derrick Smith. While Democratic power brokers have decided to create a third-party candidate to face Smith—who said he would not resign—in the general election, there is a Republican challenger for the seat named Kimberly Small who's making headlines, but not because of the dysfunction happening between Smith and his former sponsors.

Small, whose Facebook page is littered with re-postings of other Facebook statuses and internet memes, is attracting attention for two things she posted about First Lady Michelle Obama. One is a photo of the First Lady at the Children’s Choice Awards accompanied by a caption that she's dressed like a "hoochie mama."

The other is a joke that ends with... well read it below.

Not the brightest thing to do when you're running for office in a legislative district that has a sizable African American voting base. Small seemed to sense this when asked about it by the Sun-Times and tried some deft maneuvering in an attempt to distance herself from the posts while still criticizing the First Lady.

“I don’t think they were offensive,” Small said. “I don’t approve of the way the first lady was dressed and I think I’m entitled to have an opinion. I think it’s great that she attended Kids Choice Awards. I don’t think it’s appropriate that she dressed like a kid.”

Small emphasized she did not create either humor posting, she just copied jokes floating around the Internet onto her page.

“I’m not creative enough, nor smart enough nor funny enough,” Small said. “I didn’t say anything about her being a ‘hoochie mama’ — the picture said that.”

How very Mean Girls of Small. She may not be thinking of the jokes, but posting them to her Facebook page at the very least implies she agrees with their sentiments. And when it comes to inferring the wife of the President of the United States is a bitch (as the saying goes) it takes one to know one.

But you didn't hear that from us.
