The second half of 2012 is an embarrassment of craft beer riches. We're giving you the heads up on the festival season now so you don't miss out on the fun. On top of this list, you can expect taproom openings from Half Acre and Lagunitas, as well as launches from new breweries Spiteful, Broad Shoulders, Dryhop, Big Chicago, Begyle, Lake Effect, and more. Prices listed are for regular tickets purchased in advance.

Delilah's Lambic and Sour Beer Festival
June 9, Delilah's, $20
A great opportunity to try a wide range of sour and wild-fermented ales from Belgian and American craft breweries. Bring Tums.

Mundelein Craft Beer Fest

Check out one of the area's newest breweries as they party with their friends from around town.

POP Fest
July 7, Rock Bottom - Warrenville, $25
Gourmet popcorn paired with beers from Chicago breweries, including a popcorn international pilsner made special for the event.

Several Wisconsin breweries will be pouring.

Wheaton Ale Fest
August 4, Memorial Park, Wheaton, $40
Yes, Wheaton allows this to happen.

Oak Park Micro Brew Review

Our favorite outdoor festival of the year. Zero-waste, benefits sustainable causes.

Midwest Brewers Fest
August 25, Plainfield Riverfront, $40
We're hoping for a more low-key approach this year. The police presence and strict rules made for beer-drinking under martial law last year.

Goose Island Belgian Fest
August, date and price TBA, Goose Island Clybourn Brewpub
A killer collection of Belgian brews from the local breweries that do them best.

Festiv-Ale
September 14, Carmichael's Warehouse, $65
Unlimited beer and food samples in an awesome venue.

Oktoberfest Revolution
September 22, Revolution Brewing - Kedzie, price/details TBA
Beer, pretzels, brats, polka.

Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beers
November, date and price TBA, Chicago Journeyman Plumber's Local Union
The mother of them all. The greatest festival on earth. Breweries make beers just to bring to FOBAB.
