The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and we can't think of anything better than getting some wine sweats in this heat. Check out our hand-picked wine events for this weekend.

Wednesday - Friday (June 6-8): It’s steak week at Harry Caray’s (we think this is sort of like shark week, except it’s you that’s doing the eating this time). There are two options for you to partake: Buy tickets to Steak 101, a seven-course steak and wine pairing on Thursday, June 7. Tickets are $125. The menu is impressive, and includes pork belly salad, morel mushrooms, filet mignon, New York strip, rib eye, and a chocolate pot de crème. Each course is paired with wine, and while the wine selections are very zinfandel-heavy, you can’t argue that a great peppery zin with a bite of steak can change your life.

Your other option for participation is to make a reservation at any of the Harry Caray’s to partake in the steak week menu. Up tonight is the Filet Mignon with Maytag Bleu Cheese Mashed Potatoes. Tomorrow you’ll see Rib Eye with Truffled Goat Cheese Twice Baked Potato and Friday is New York Strip with Galbani Dolcelatte Fondue. Harry Caray’s sommelier will hand select a wine pairing for each steak comparison. Guests will receive detailed tasting notes for the steaks and wine.

Harry Caray’s is located at 33 W. Kinzie.

Thursday, June 7: The Poison Cup on Armitage is hosting a tasting called “Wines for Summer.” Guests will taste 8 wines. The tasting is limited to 30 people, and tickets are $25. $10 of the purchase price of the ticket can go towards the purchase of a bottle.

The Poison Cup is located at 1128 W Armitage.

Friday, June 8: From 7-10pm, Toast of the Town Chicago will be at the Field Museum with more than 500 wines, spirits, and beers and 50 local restaurants. The event is hosted by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Participating restaurants include Bistronomic, Coco Pazzo, Inovasi, Japonais, the Kinzie Chophouse, Mercadito, Nellcote, South Water Kitchen, and Tavernita. Tickets for entry are normally $109, but today they’re running a deal for $65.40. Snatch up those tickets before it’s too late.

The Field Museum is located at 1410 South Museum Campus Drive

Saturday, June 9: From 1-5pm, Vintages Fine Wine in Arlington Heights is hosting Zin-Mania, a tasting of over 30 bottles, including zins, zin blends, other big reds, and select summery whites. Many bottles will be discounted. The cost is $5.

Vintages Fine Wine is located at 12 South Dunton, Arlington Heights.
