Netherfriends, ShowYouSuck Double Team Harry Nilsson (In A Manner of Speaking)

2012_06_netherfriends_nilsonn.jpg The perennially touring local psych-band Netherfriends teams up with ShowYouSuck, one of the city's most jovial and enterprising rappers, to funk up Harry Nilsson in a recently released video.

Last fall, Netherfriends released a tribute album to revered '70s cult songwriter Harry Nilsson titled
Netherfriends Does Nilsson
, a record that uses Nilsson samples to create new material. (Sort of like what Rhymefest did with Michael Jackson in Man In The Mirror, only for dudes who got hella drunk with John Lennon, and not the king of pop.)

Opening track "Full of It" appeared in a remixed version featuring Chicago rapper and Chicago Reader cover-guy-but-not-cover-guy (it's a long story) ShowYouSuck on his mixtape One Man Pizza Party 2: Mo Slices, Mo Problems, in January. Netherfriends main main Shawn Rosenblatt compiled a video for the ShowYouSuck version of the song based on the 1971 famously tripped-balls-out Nilsson movie The Point, which was just released yesterday. Funky stuff, and a fun video.

Speaking of fun: ShowYouSuck has some amazing fans. Check out this video for "Clearance," which shows the rapper, um, "performing," for a DePaul University class room. God help us, we giggled:

And, finally, busy man that he is, ShowYouSuck dropped a new track "All Rad Everything" last week via Ruby Hornet. Your day just got a whole lot brighter. Listen to it below:
