Sable has gotten so much attention for its wonderful cocktails, but who can forget their wonderful desserts? Since Chef Heather Terhune is trained both as a pastry chef and a savory chef, she also creates the dessert menu. Until now, we've always ordered the same thing once dinner is over (there is a Butterscotch Pot de Creme with our name on it this very second) but we're going to have to expand our horizons.

The S'mores dessert was a special last night, but according to Terhune it was so popular that she's planning to add it to the menu permanently. This dish will single-handedly contribute to Chicago's expanding waistline. It combines fudge brownies, toasted marshmallow and graham cracker ice cream for a plated take on the classic dessert. The plate also has chocolate sauce, cocoa nibs and buttered graham cracker crumbs, so you can tailor each bite to your taste. On Facebook, someone beat us to the most appropriate hashtag for this dish: #adiosdiet.

Sable Kitchen and Bar is located at 505 N. State St.
