The Onion A.V. Club announced the first wave of acts for this year's A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party, which is happening the same weekend as the pumped-up Riot Fest. Don't take this as speaking ill of anything, but if the announced acts are any indication, Hideout and the A.V. Club are going to have to go a ways to make the fest an attractive alternative to Riot Fest.

Iron & Wine, Glen Hansard, Lee Fields & the Expressions, the Corin Tucker Band, the Waco Brothers with special guest Paul Burch are playing the fest, which isn't that different from any other night at Hideout. Redmoon Theatre is putting something together for the fest, to break things up a bit. Still, as far as selling the sizzle goes, this needs more heat. A lot more.

The full lineup will be announced on June 25, so we'll reserve final judgment until then. Two day are available for purchase now at Ticketfly.com.
