President Obama's re-election campaign launched a one-minute radio spot Tuesday aimed specifically at African American voters. The spot, titled "We Got Your Back," traffics in the nostalgia of Obama's historic 2008 election while reminding black voters that the message change he rode to the White House is still a work in progress, and that he hasn't forgotten the issues that are important to them.
An Obama campaign official said the ad buy was "national" and that it's running on the nationally syndicated programs of radio hosts Tom Joyner and Steve Harvey.
Black voters overwhelmingly voted for Obama four years ago, but his poll ratings among them has slipped as low as 79 percent in January. With the 2012 election more than ever hinging on undecided voters, this is a smart move to strengthen one of Obama's main bases.
