Spring Awakening Music Festival Invades Soldier Field This Weekend

2012_06_12_samf.jpg This weekend, the first annual Spring Awakening Music Festival will place its footprint in and around Soldier Field with a two-day electronic music onslaught. The event, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, is dedicated to the recent “EDM” phenomenon, with a specific focus on the aggressive end of the spectrum. Electro and dubstep are the most represented genres this year, with popular acts Skrillex, Afrojack, A-Trak, Benny Benassi, Diplo, and Moby leading the way.

Completing the lineup is a slew of acts that range from veterans to up-and-comers. Chicago’s own Derrick Carter and Green Velvet add a very welcomed house flair to the festival, and Claude VonStroke’s ghetto tech-house will offer a reprieve from the grinding basslines heard otherwise throughout the weekend. To supplement the big names is a collection of local staples, including Team Bayside High, Gemini Club, Zebo, and Deejay Intel.

For those attending, be sure to check out the schedule and map to get geared for two days of adrenaline-filled atmosphere. If you still need tickets, be sure to buy them here.
