Three upcoming beer events show off the best of California's craft beer available in Chicago.

As we mentioned earlier today, on Saturday, Fountainhead celebrates the 10th anniversary of Stone Brewing Co. Ruination, a bold IPA that was oozing alpha acids before hoppy was sexy. For the occasion, Stone brewed up a tenth anniversary batch of Ruination, kicking the ABV up above ten-percent and doubling the kettle and dry hops. Local glass artist Nicholas Paul will be on hand slinging his Stone bottles-turned-beer glasses.

On Monday, SmallBAR will celebrate Firestone Walker Brewing Co.'s recent World Beer Cup honors as Champion Mid-Size Brewery and Brewmaster. Brewmaster Matt Brynildson's achievement has Chicago roots: he attended Chicago's Siebel Institute of Brewing Technology and earned himself the title of head brewer at Goose Island before making the move to Paso Robles, California, taking the lead at Firestone Walker, and basically owning everything and everyone.

Bluebird beer director Jason Baldacci will host a California beer tasting on Tuesday featuring beers from Stone, Lagunitas, and Green Flash. The tasting is $30 and reservations are recommended. If you have to eat with your beers, our recommendation at Bluebird is always anything and everything with duck.

Here's a little California Love to get you in the mood.
