2012_06_14_gluelogo.bmp Chicagoist Mix Series is an ongoing feature that profiles local DJs/producers and features a mix compiled exclusively for Chicagoist. This is Mix No. 19, brought to you by Weaponry.

Today we bring you yet another mix for Chicagoist Mix Series. We've been hard at it the past couple months, which is proof-positive of the talent in the budding local DJ scene. Today's mix is from Weaponry, a.k.a Noah Casser, a very talented house and disco DJ who's been at it for roughly five years in Chicago. Casser is well known in the club scene, having played all over town, including his favorite venue, Smart Bar. Over the years he has shown a prowess for song selection, and today's mix extends the notion.

The inspiration for Mix No. 19 comes from Casser's latest residency, the monthly Glue party at Bonny's in Logan Square (in fact, this month's show is tonight and features guest Richard Richard). The night, started with Studio Casual (a.k.a. Jake Nelson and Andrew Gordon), is focused strictly on the deeper side of disco and house, as well as an element of accessibility. "[Glue] really is a family type atmosphere, even for those who are coming through for the first time,” says Casser. “We love that people can come in and dance if they want to, hang back and listen if they want to, and always feel welcome to mingle with our terrific Glue crowd. It's worth mentioning that […] they have recently put in a new sound system that really compliments the space - we couldn't be happier about being able to do Glue there.”

Mix No. 19 is vinyl-only and explores some of the more downtempo and soulful sounds you might hear at Glue. “Whenever I put together a mix that people are most likely going to be listening to while working at their desks,” Casser explains, “I really like to try to bring some music that will keep their heads bobbing and feet tapping.”
