The weather forecast for next week is a continuation of the hot temperatures we're enjoying today, coupled with some unbearable humidity. For those of us who don't have air conditioning (or aren't installing ceiling fans) for some relief from the heat, a swimming pool can be a respite, if not a necessity.

People who live near Chicago Park District outdoor pools are going to be SOL for a couple of weeks longer. Today is the first day outdoor pools are open and 12 of them are still undergoing some form of repair. The state imposed new safety rules two years ago that required the Park District to replace drains on the pools, but a Park District spokeswoman told WBBM-AM some pools are still under construction and expects that to be completed soon.

The closed pools are:

Abbott Park (49 E. 95th St.)
Bessemer Park (8930 S. Muskegon Ave. )
Fuller Park (331 W. 45th St.)
Gage Park (2411 W. 55th St.)
Hale Park (6258 W. 62nd St.)
Hamlin Park (3035 N. Hoyne Ave.)
Norwood Park (5801 N. Natoma Ave.)
Portage Park (4100 N. Long Ave.)
Pulaski Park (1419 W. Blackhawk St.)
River Park (5100 N. Francisco Ave. )
Union Park (1501 W. Randolph St.)
Wrightwood Park (2534 N. Greenview Ave.)
