Every time we venture up to Evanston (which in our South Side minds is something like venturing into deepest darkest Peru) we ask our friends where to eat. Inevitably, the result is the same: go to Edzo's. Now we won't have to get on the purple line to get those burgers and shakes, as Edzo's Burger Shop is expanding into Lincoln Park.

Eater reported late yesterday that the owner of Edzo's, Eddie Lakin, signed a lease for a space at 2218 N. Lincoln Avenue. The space used to house the venerable Chef Louis Szathmary's The Bakery, and now will house a burger shop. Normally we'd say something like "how the mighty have fallen," but the milkshakes are really darn good.

The menu will be substantially the same, the new space will feature communal seating and somewhat funkier decor. You can bet we'll be all over this one when it finally opens this fall.
