Verma Go Trippy and Trip-Hop With New Track "From Thunder"

Local kraut-revivalists and fervent Black Sabbath devotees Verma released a new song/video from an upcoming LP due later this summer.
After releasing two cassette EPs in 2010, and a split cassette last year, the quintet is set to release a proper full-length. When, exactly, is uncertain, but the band let us know key details about the album in an email yesterday.
"The new LP is being pressed soon for release in late summer. The date is sort of TBD at this point....waiting to hear back from the pressing plant," the band wrote. "We recorded the album in two sessions, one with Benjamin Balcom and Cooper Crain (Cave) at Minbal and the other with Matt Dewine at Pieholden. It still sort of keeps up with the previous aesthetic... keeping the apocalyptic psych and kraut thing going."
Interestingly enough, the band's new song, "From Thunder," which you can listen to/watch below (though fair warning if you're epileptic, as there are a lot of flashing lights), is a departure of sorts. There's synth and vocal work evocative of the apocalypse, sure, but instead of the band's usual motorik/Masters of Reality chug, there's a trip-hop beat instead. The dream of the 70s unites with the dream of the 90s to form an unholy alliance of nightmarish musical styles. Yep, this is awesome.

As if "From Thunder" weren't enough, the band is also set to release a Coach House Sounds session on Thursday, the same day they play the Hideout. Read more about it at CHIRP, where the band echoes remarks made to us.
