By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Jun 22, 2012 9:00PM

The Chicago Gay Pride Festival and Parade

This doesn't need much introduction. It's the biggest event in town this week/month, filling the streets of Uptown and Lakeview. See our earlier preview with information on the rerouting of the parade and other changes this year. See the official website for information on other Pride Month activities.

The 2012 Chicago Pride Parade starts at noon June 24 at the corner of Broadway and Montrose, and finishes at Diversey and Sheridan. We advise you to get there early, among other things.

Chicago Gospel Music Festival

This festival kicked off last night with JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound in Millennium Park. The party continues tonight at the Chicago Cultural Center with the screening of Say Amen, Somebody. The rest of the Gospel Music Festival events are in Bronzeville Saturday and Sunday, including performances from Fred Hammond on Saturday evening and Mary Mary on Sunday.

Chicago Gospel Music Festival, Ellis Park (37th and Cottage Grove), Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Chicago Summerfest

The laid-back Lincoln Park Summerfest has the beer, the food and the cover bands we've come to expect at any minor festival. Bands include Too White Crew, Wedding Banned and a Dave Matthews cover band.

Lincoln Park Summerfest, Clark Street at Armitage Avenue, Saturday noon to 10 p.m., Sunday noon to 9 p.m.
