2012_06_23_cityporch.jpg The pop-up restaurant trend continues, and the latest spot, City Porch, features guest menus from some of Chicago's top chefs. The restaurant, which is only open through the end of September, has a set menu of dishes from executive chef George Alpogianis and Chef de Cuisine Anthony Riley, along with additions from the guest chef.

Sable's Heather Terhune is up first, and her dishes will be available throughout June. Tony Mantuano from Spiaggia is on deck for July, and Jimmy Bannos from the Purple Pig will take August.

We attended the City Porch opening last week and sampled an array of dishes from both the special and regular menus. Terhune contributes some of her classics, like bacon wrapped dates with blue cheese and truffle deviled eggs. She also adds shrimp corn dogs, fried cheese curds, a watermelon salad, and strawberry shortcake. As at Sable, you can get most of her dishes in half or full orders, which we love, since you can try more items. The main menu includes lamb and feta sliders, vegetable flatbreads, a lobster roll, and other summery dishes.

City Porch has a solid wine list, along with beer and cocktails, and a nice patio for enjoying them on. While we don't often brave the throngs of tourists at Navy Pier, this is definitely a fun little summer spot.
