The success of Louis CK's Live at the Beacon Theater video last year, where the video was available for streaming or purchase directly on the comedian's website for a mere $5, has opened a door for CK to tour without fans having to pay for the added surcharges of a ticketing service like Ticketmaster giving you a raw ass in the process.

CK is selling tickets to his fall tour directly on his website for a flat $45, taxes and other fees included. And to make tickets to his gigs as scalp-proof as possible, Ck is capping the number of tickets to 4 per person and reserving the right to cancel any purchases if he suspects someone is trying to scalp them.

The difference to our pocketbooks is immediately noticeable: last year the average ticket price for a Louis CK show was $90. And while he won't be making as much money with the tour to which he's usually accustomed, CK said he's at a point in his career where money isn't the primary focus. From the statement on his website:

Doing things this way means I'm making less than I would have made if I did a standard tour, using the usual very excellent but expensive ticketing service. In some cities I've had to play smaller venues and do more shows. But I like doing more shows and about a year ago I reached a place where I realized I am making enough money doing comedy so the next thing that interested me is bringing your price down. Either way, I still make a whole lot more than my grandfather who taught math and raised chickens in Michigan.

The tour includes Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 stops at Symphony Center and, as of post time, single seat tickets were still available. So don't dawdle.
