Severed Foot Found In Rail Yard South Of Loop

Workers at a rail yard south of the Loop came upon an unwelcome surprise late Tuesday night: a severed foot near a stretch of tracks.

The foot was found near tracks at the 1600 block of South Lumber Street underneath an Amtrak train. Police said the foot belongs to a man who was struck and killed by the train in Racine, Wisc. last month and that the foot was missing until it was dislodged in the rail yard.

The Cook County Medical examiner's office is now in possession of the foot and is evaluating it.
