Celebrate The Gage's Fifth Anniversary With Bourbon and Beer

2012_6_28_TheGage1.jpg Restaurants issue special menus all the time; mostly we ignore them. But when The Gage put out this fifth anniversary menu, our ears perked up a little. It's not every day that you see a speical menu that is both unique and a great value. Add in a special bourbon and two collaboration beers, and we have a winner.

The Gage, headed by Chef Dirk Flanigan, has pulled out all the stops for ths one. They have created not one, but two collaboration brews; one with Half Acre and the other owith Goose Island. The Goose Island brew, called "Luciana" is one of their chef collaboration series of beers. This one is a Belgian double ale with a great fruity aroma and a smoky finish. The Half Acre collaboration is a Red Rye ale, perfect for summer quaffing. They also have teamed up with Willet Kentucky Bourbon Distilleries to do a single-barrel 9 year old bourbon. Since it's single-barrel, the bourbon is pretty high proof - 115 to be precise.

The best part? All of these special things are only $5. Either of the beers or a pour of the bourbon will run you less than an overpriced Budweiser at a ball game. How can you not stop in?

There are also some speciality food items (see the menu below), some of which are the original "audition" dishes that Chef Flanigan used to get his job at The Gage way back when. The promotion runs for two weeks, or until the special drinks run out.

The Gage is located at 24 S. Michigan Avenue.
