Earlier this month Pleasant House Bakery made what were some of the best wood-fired brick oven pizzas we've had in Chicago. Pleasant House's Art Jackson told us at the time the pizzas would not be a one-off event.
The reception to the flatbreads was overwhelmingly positive and PHB announced today they'll have Patrick Barclay's mobile wood-fired brick pizza oven on their patio from the end of July through the end of summer. That's good news and when the oven arrives you should be making a beeline down to 31st and Morgan in Bridgeport to buy two or three of these.
In other PHB news, they'll be moving a portion of their pie making and farming operations to The Plant in Back of the Yards. "The Plant’s approach to sustainability aligns with the values we hold dear, so we are thrilled to be a part of it," PHB said in the announcement.
As for how the move will impact customers? "we will continue to sell pies at our restaurant. And we will still be making our pies by hand, ourselves, using great ingredients. Only now, we’ll have more space to do it," the announcement read, meaning more space for customers. "And because we’ll be working in a facility that generates its own power, an even greater portion of our business will be sustainable!"
