Morning Box Score: Sox Earn Split In Bronx, Cubs Sweep Astros

The Cubs looked like world beaters at Wrigley Field this weekend. (Maybe they should play Houston more often.) Travis Wood sealed the sweep with 7-2/3 shutout innings of work on the mound. Wood struck out four, walked none and allowed three hits. He also contributed to the cause on offense with a sixth-inning double that sparked a three-run inning. Anthony Rizzo scored Wood with a single, his third go-ahead RBI since being called up last week.
The White Sox got a split of their four-game series with the Yankees in the Bronx, but have to be disappointed they didn't take at least three of four from the AL East leaders. Gavin Floyd struggled in 95 degree heat, allowing eight hits over 5-1/3 innings and two-run home runs to Eric Chavez and Robinson Cano after being staked to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Kevin Youkilis and Alex Rios drove in the Sox runs. The ballclub has a day off today before starting a series against Texas Tuesday at Sox Park, where they haven't played well at all this season.
