Bail was denied for Jerrell Dorsey, an alleged gang member charged in the shooting death last week of Heaven Sutton. The 7-year-old girl's shooting death made national headlines last week as another statistic in Chicago's surging 2012 murder rate.

Members of Sutton's family taunted Dorsey as he was led into court Sunday. One woman yelled "I hope you die slow" at him, while other family members expressed similar sentiments. Cook County Circuit Court Judge Adam Bourgeois, in denying Dorsey bail, called the alleged Four Corner Hustler "a dangerous individual.

Dorsey's attorney, Eric Dunham, said his client was in the area the night of Sutton's murder but was innocent. Dunham said Dorsey was planning to turn himself in after he learned police were looking for him, but was arrested before he could do so. Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Nyshana Sumner said Dorsey made statements to police placing him at the scene of Sutton's murder.
