White Sox Going Above And Beyond "The Chicago Way" To Get Fans To Vote Peavy Into All-Star Game

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jul 3, 2012 3:50PM

White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy is one of the finalists in the American League Final Vote for next week's All-Star Game in Kansas City. And it looks like the club doesn't think the Chicago way of voting early and often won't be enough to ensure Peavy a trip to Kaufmann Stadium.

So they're sweetening the pot, as they say. In addition to voting for Peavy based on his deserving the nod and his numbers, the White Sox are offering prizes including discounted tickets to Sox games if fans vote for Peavy. Every person who voted for Peavy will be automatically entered into the "2012 Vote Jake Peavy All-Star game Final Vote sweepstakes." Five winners will receive a Jake Peavy prize pack that includes an autographed cap, jersey and ball. Another five will win tickets and parking passes to an upcoming White Sox game.

And because the turnstiles at Sox Park aren't swinging fast enough for a first place team, everyone who votes for Peavy will receive a code for a special ticket offer to the Sox' Aug. 5 game against Anaheim and Aug. 8 against the Royals. In honor of Peavy's jersey number, lower reserved and upper box seats will be reduced by 44 percent to $23 and $14 for the Aug. 5 game, and $21 and $12 for the Aug. 8 game.

The Sox have been successful with the Final Vote round before. Scott Podsednik was voted to the team in 2005, Paul Konerko earned the nod last season and who could forget the 2006 "Punch AJ" campaign that sent AJ Pierzynski to the All-Star Game?
