Happy Independence Day, everyone. While you're outside today grilling, opening fire hydrants and ducking because you're wondering if that loud pop was a firecracker or a gunshot (and more on the dumbass gunplay that happened across the city last night in a bit), today's weather is both flirting with the record books and dangerous in its own right.

Skilling Central is forecasting a 101-degree day today; the record for this day was 102 in 1911. The humidity will push the heat indices into the 110-115 degree range, so the EPA has issued an air pollution action day. As always, be safe, be be smart, hydrate and check on the elderly.
