We knew heading into the day we were in for another day of 100-degree weather and we crossed that plane with ease. The official temperature at O'Hare Airport was 103 degrees at 3 p.m. The previous record, set in 1988, was 98 and if the waves of sweat that poured off me after my morning bike ride was an indicator, we broke the record hours ago.

Chicago has has three consecutive days of 100 degree weather for the first time in over six decades and even though a drop in the mercury is on the way, we could be in store for a fourth straight day of 100 degree weather. That's never been recorded before in Chicago as long as there have been Skillings, Tafts and Baskervilles and other meteorologists keeping tabs on the changes in the weather.
