Chicago has set or tied weather records the past two days and that trend continues today. We're due for another day of 100-degree temperatures and a heat index between 110-114 degrees. The last time the area has seen a run of three straight 100-degree days was 1945, which was also the last year the Cubs reached the World Series. Coincidence? Absolutely. This hot and muggy weather has us in store for another EPA air pollution day. The excessive heat warning has been extended through 4 p.m. Saturday and the extended forecast sees a break in the weather coming beginning Sunday.
