Today's $64,000 question: will Chicago reach an unprecedented fourth straight 100-degree day? The dueling forecasts from Skilling Central and Accuweather point to "no," with a predicted high of 94. Don't let six degrees of separation fool you: it's still going to be hot as balls outside. As we move into the afternoon, relief will be in sight as the winds shift to the northeast and a cold front enters the area, bringing with it a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm and hopefully the chance for us to shut off our air conditioners by Sunday. Until then, we're still under an excessive heat warning from the National Weather Service until 4 p.m. and an EPA air pollution day.
