In contrast to their devilish clip for their song "Dirtnap", Americana band Dastardly showcase a softer, sweeter and more old-timey side of their sound with their Ballads in Blue EP, released this past Tuesday. Stream it below. At four songs long, Blue is a shorter affair than January's Bury Me In The Country EP, with tracks like the minute-and-change opener "Sentimental Blue" demonstrating a charming, old-fashioned dedication to traditional song styles. By closer "Blue Dreams", though, the band starts throwing in chaotic dissonance into the mix, abetted by a huge choir of their fellow local musicians. (Check out the credits here). Dastardly will celebrate the release of Blue in August at Schubas. Details here.
