Bleeding Heart Bakery To Close August 5

Punk rock pastry shop Bleeding Heart Bakery has announced it will close on August 5. It was just a few weeks ago we thought the drama was over, as its West Town location shut down because of a dispute with their partners at Roots Pizza. The bakery also just opened a new Lakeview shop in June, but now the owners say they're moving on, but don't say where to. See both of the bakery's announcements below.

Bleeding Heart Bakery wrote the following on its Facebook page last week:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce, today, that Chicago's Bleeding Heart Bakery is closing on August 5th, 2012. We have had 9 amazing years, we have learned so much and have met some of the most awesome people. This is not a choice made out of haste and it certainly is not because we have given up or are in anyway being made to shut down. Quite the opposite! We have been given opportunities to progress our career beyond the bakery in an environment that is better for our family. So, this is a sad day, but one we feel is necessary for our children's happiness and the health of our family. We thank all of you for the support you have given throughout the years and we hope to continue to hear amazing things about the local and sustainable food movement in Chicago.

And they posted the following on Monday:

Life changes... When we opened the new stores, we had every intention of keeping them open. But, as I am sure has happened to many of you, things changed. And we were offered an opportunity that feels like a very good fit for our passions, talents, and mostly, for our family.

Again, we thank all of you for your years of support. And we will miss you. Drop by this week and say goodbye! Open 11AM - 5PM. If you cannot make it in those hours but want to place an order, you can still email us and we will see what we can do.

At this time, we do not wish to discuss what we are doing next. We ask that you respect that Bleeding Heart Bakery is closing, and a new chapter is beginning for the Garcias.
