Chef Tweet of the Week: Malort On Tap At The Trenchermen

This is the reason why Twitter is wonderful - sometimes we miss things the first time around and an enterprising chef tweet can remind us. The Trenchermen, Chefs Mike and Patrick Sheerin's new restaurant, opened about a month ago. Buried in a couple of the articles about the opening was this gem: The Trenchermen was going to have Malort on tap. Luckily for us, Mike Sheerin decided to remind us of this fact last night and confirm that the tap is now open for business.

"Now serving Malort on tap!!!" tweeted Sheerin, in a piece of news worthy of three exclamation points. "Malort the drink of the Trenchermen!" Recently we've seen Malort cupcakes and last year we saw a Malort viral video, but now you can get it on tap in a fine-dining establishment.

If you don't like your Malort straight-up, the Trenchermen also serves a yummy-sounding cocktail. A take on the Vesper, one of our favorite drinks, the "Desperate Vesper" combines gin, Lillet Blanc and Jeppson's Malort. Has anyone tried it yet? We're going next week and will be sure to bring back a full report.

The Trenchermen is located at 2039 W. North Ave.
