Restaurant News: Katherine Anne Confections Gets A Store, More Details On Little Goat

- Our favorite local chocolatier, Katherine Anne Confections, has finally made the big time - Katherine Anne Duncan is opening her own retail store. She's had a space for a while now, used for parties and classes and production of yummy truffles, but now she's going retail. The location will remain the same, but rather than an open production kitchen the space will house a 14-person seating area. Duncan will also team up with other independent vendors in Chicago to feature coffee, pastries and teas. Plus, you'll be able to get hot chocolate made by the master herself. The store opens at 2745 W. Armitage Ave. on September 13th.
- The newest Brendan Sodikoff project with a French woman's name, Bavette's Bar & Boeuf, soft-opens this week. Despite the name, BB&B (as we chose to call it) will be an American-style steakhouse. Given our love of Maude's, Au Cheval, Doughnut Vault and everything else Sodikoff touches, we're sure it will become one of our go-to meat restaurants. An added bonus: 312 Dining Diva reported that from Tuesday through Thursday, all of the proceeds from the restaurant will go to benefit an organization that helps refugee youth living in Kenya. Reservations are available - give them a call at 312-624-8154.
- More information has been released about Little Goat, the new diner-style restaurant from Stephanie Izard. It's another Boka resturant (though we knew that), it's the biggest thing ever called a diner (8200 square feet), it'll seat 120 people and be available for all three meals of the day starting at 7 a.m. The second floor will be Izard's studio, where she can host cooking classes and demos. Aside from a few dish descriptions (Sloppy Joe on a Fried Steam Bun, Beef Cheek Stroganoff and Quail Egg Chop Suey, a Patty Melt) there isn't that much to tell - but we do know that it will be opening in October.
