CTA is warning of delays between 1-2 hours this evening after a Brown Line train collided with an unmarked squad car a few moments ago. The crash occurred near the Kedzie station at Wilson Avenue.
Both the Tribune and Sun-Times are reporting the squad car tried to drive around gates that were down for a Loop-bound train, unaware a second train bound for the Kimball station was incoming. The officer driving the car was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment, while a CTA employee was taken to another hospital.
According to CTA, Brown Line service was originally shut down between Southport and Kimball. They just announced that service has been extended as far as Western, where shuttle buses will complete the route on all stops from there to Kimball.
Brown Line update: Train service being extended to Western where shuttle buses will be provided for thru svc to Kimball.
