The man wanted for a series of sexual assaults and robberies on the Northwest and West sides was arrested and so far faces charges for 17 attacks. Vidal Rainey, 23 of Cicero, was arrested on Aug. 1 after police circulated a sketch of the perpetrator. Police had been looking for him since July 11. Rainey also faces charges for punching a detective during one of the line-ups. The Tribune writes:

Last weekend at a news conference, Cmdr. Gary Yamashiroya said Rainey was charged in connection with 10 attacks, but said he was believed to be responsible for at least 10 more in the last month.

Last week, Rainey was charged with seven counts of armed robbery, two counts of attempted criminal sexual assault with a weapon, two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint, one count of robbery, one count of attempted aggravated robbery, and one count of attempted armed robbery, police said.

A judge called Rainey "a dangerous individual" and said, "Everyone in Chicago will sleep better tonight." Most of the attacks took place around the Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods.
