The White Sox were up 7-6 going into the eighth inning, but the Athletics rallied to overtake the South Siders Saturday. The Sox fell behind early in the game after newly acquired starter Francisco Liriano got into trouble. Liriano gave up six runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings of work. Philip Humber replaced Liriano in the third inning and allowed no hits and no runs in his three innings. Humber's pitching allowed the Sox to come from behind. Tyler Flowers hit an RBI single to drive in Dayan Viciedo in the fourth. Kevin Youkilis then hit a two-run shot in the fifth to drive in Alejandro De Aza, and Flowers hit a solo shot in the sixth to tie the game. A.J. Pierzynski hit an RBI single in the seventh to retake the lead. But Matt Thornton couldn't contain the Athletics—he gave up three runs and six hits in two innings of work and erased the "W" from the Sox's record.

Cincinnati 4, Cubs 2

Wrigley has been the not-so-Friendly Confines for the Cubs this weekend, as Cincinnati took a 2-0 lead in the series. David DeJesus tried to help the Cubs with a two run RBI single in the second, but, in true Cubbie fashion this season, they couldn't hold onto the lead. Travis Wood did his best to stave off Dusty Baker and the Reds by allowing only one run and five hits in seven innings, but reliever James Russell had a tough eighth inning. He gave up five hits and three runs in one inning to earn the loss and blown save attempt.
